Abstract
Objective of the study was to assess the effect of hypoxic exposure on functional performance when working in the aerobic power zone of highly skilled swimmers.
Methods and structure of the study. The scientific work involved highly qualified swimmers, who under laboratory conditions under hypoxic exposure performed a test of stepwise increasing power.
Results and conclusions. Metabolic changes in the body of athletes are ambiguous with different durations of hypoxic exposure. There is a pronounced effect of hypoxia on certain physiological functions, which is accompanied by a significant decrease in the degree of blood oxygenation and an increase in heart rate, leading to an increase in the intensity of the work of the cardiorespiratory link of oxygen transport.

Keywords: hypoxic effect, aerobic zone, swimmers, working capacity, lactate.
