Interrelation of the ability to reproducing the rhythm of movements with the development of female students' mental functions

Objective of the study was to identify the relationship between the rhythmic ability and the development of higher mental functions of female students of a non-athletic university.
Methods and structure of the study. The work was attended by 110 students of the agricultural university. Rhythmic ability was tested in terms of parameters: reproduction of a given rhythm in simple locomotion and in a complex coordination exercise. Higher mental functions were diagnosed in girls aged 18-19 according to generally accepted methods.
Results and conclusions. The developed technology showed that the march to the rhythm of 130 beats/min is performed with errors in comparison with the rhythm of 80 beats/min and to the individual rhythm. In a task with complex coordination of movements, the rhythm of 130 beats/min is reproduced more easily by female students than 60 and 80 beats/min. Close correlations were found between the indices of movement rhythm reproduction and memory indices (r=0.51); between the reproduction of the rhythm of movements and indicators of thinking (r=0.48). The authors believe that special pedagogical influences during the implementation of the developed technology can help improve the sense of rhythm and increase the level of psychophysical preparedness of female students for the profession.
