Application of exercises of aesthetic and artistic gymnastics in the physical education of students

Objective of the study was to experimentally substantiate the use of aesthetic and rhythmic gymnastics in improving physical education in a university setting.
Methods and structure of the study. The pedagogical experiment was carried out on the basis of the sports and recreation complex of the Nizhnevartovsk State University, in which 75 1st-2nd year students took part. As part of the study, the program of the elective discipline (module) in physical culture and sports included elements of aesthetic and rhythmic gymnastics, including the performance of integral waves and swings, interconnected body movements, tilts, bends, twists, balances and turns on one and two legs, jumps, acrobatic (individual and pair-group) and dance elements (steps, jumps, poses).
Results and conclusions. It was revealed that the use of aesthetic and rhythmic gymnastics exercises in classes with university students made it possible to optimize motor density (78%) and overall density (98%). Thus, the efficiency of using various means of aesthetic and rhythmic gymnastics has been experimentally proven, the features of the impact of various means of technical and aesthetic sports on indicators of the level of physical fitness and optimization of physical activity indicators have been determined.
