Historical prerequisites for the transformation of the theory of physical education into the methodology of sportization

Objective of the study was to to reveal the historical prerequisites for the transformation of the idea of physical education into the methodology of sportization.
Results and conclusions. The main prerequisite for the transition of the concept of physical education to the methodology of sportization was the development of a new form and content of the domestic system of physical culture and sports movement. Scientific works of V.K. Balsevich about the problems and prospects for the development of physical culture and sports are of great educational importance in understanding the place and role of physical culture in organizing a healthy lifestyle of a person. The practice of developing research and educational activities in the field of physical culture and sports of the Soviet period, undoubtedly, has its outstanding results, which have become a national treasure and have no analogue in the world, but at the same time, it must be admitted that objective systemic errors were made related to with the Soviet system of state administration, including the sphere of physical culture and sports. In the future, the effective implementation of the concept of physical education in the context of the methodology of sportization is possible if the Unified physical culture and sports classification is developed within the educational space of the Russian Federation.
