Abstract
Objective of the study was to test and analyze physical fitness of the 2-3 year-old Russian population in the Far North.
Methods and structure of the study. The study was run at "Kolobok" preschool establishment in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District of Novy Urengoy city in the physical education classes on a full-time sample of 2-year-olds (n=16) and 3-year-olds (n= 43); with physical fitness of the sample tested by the A.I. Kravchuk Preschool Physical Fitness Test method (2013).
Results and conclusion. The pre- versus post-experimental physical fitness tests showed meaningful progress in many aspects save for the static strength and dexterity in the 3-year-old group – that was still tested above the age standard by the other tests. The study showed that due progress facilitating provisions need to be put in place in the preschool establishment to encourage growth of physical qualities within and above the age norms.
