Abstract
Objective of the study was to analyze practical applications of timing theory in modern martial arts.
Results and conclusion. Timing may be interpreted as the ability to effectively respond every action in martial arts by a set of target actions to slow down the opponent, speed up own responses, anticipate and control every fight situation, capitalize on the reactive agility, and many other things. Technically, progress in timing may be facilitated by special trainings focused on the motor skills trigger positions, strikes with jumping biomechanics analyzing, etc.; whilst in the tactical domain of timing implies the skills to control latent moments in the opponent’s reactions by target micro-pauses, detection of the attack triggers, attack startup signals, distractions, instant threats, etc. The timing analyses and trainings should be designed to improve the reaction speed and anticipation; excel the ability to find the right moment for attack; control the opponent’s response time; speed up the own responses; efficiently use the natural inertia of movements; and expand versatility of the attacking skill set.

Keywords: timing, anticipation, motor reactions, motor actions, reactive agility, response slowdown.
