Introduction. A huge role in improving the health of the population is traditionally assigned to regular physical activity [1].
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the possibilities of physical education as a way of improving the health of young people.
Methodology and organization of the study. The object of the experiment was 32 male adolescents aged 14-15 years, randomly divided into an observation group and a control group of 16 adolescents. The control group consisted of secondary school students who attended traditional physical education classes according to the schedule. The observation group underwent physical training at physical education classes according to the author's methodology. The following methods were used in the work: the method of functional tests, the method of comprehensive health assessment and anthropometry. The results were processed by the Student's criterion.
The results of the study and their discussion. The assessment of physical health in the observation group showed an advantage in five parameters. The differences in the parameters taken into account between the groups reached 7 points - 45% (p<0.01). Pulse index and Quetelet index were above average in the observation group. Their values of the power index, the life index and the Rufier index were high. In the observation group, the overall level of health reached the level of 17 points, considered as high, whereas in the control group it was 10 points, which was considered an average level of health.
It is clear that in order to improve the health of adolescents, modern application of physical education techniques aimed at a clear formation of an attitude to a healthy lifestyle is needed. The preservation and restoration of adolescent health should be carried out jointly by teachers, psychologists and parents. Activities should include the participation of adolescents in sports games and competitions, strength exercises, swimming, strict exclusion of bad habits with the presentation of accessible information about options for recovery, prevention of pathology and stimulation of body functions.
Conclusion. Physical education of teenagers has been formed for a long time and is continuously being improved. It was found out that it should be highly individualized and should be aimed at stimulating physical capabilities. To preserve the health of adolescents, a broad assessment of their health is necessary with the provision of targeted individual psychological, medical and physical education work based on in-depth medical examinations. Mandatory sanitary and hygienic regime, metered physical activity in the gym and outdoors with a rational balanced diet.
