Objective of the study was to test benefits of the new combined physical rehabilitation model for peroneal tendon injuries in sports.
Methods and structure of the study. We sampled for the peroneal tendon combined physical rehabilitation model testing experiment male sports professionals (n= 30) diagnosed with peroneal tendinitis. The model offered a set of proprioceptive exercises for the ankle joint, plus standard physical conditioning and cardio exercises to keep the sample physically fit. Progress of the Experimental versus Control Group was tested by the 8- and 16-week tests in the rehabilitation period by a Balance Test (YBT) and Biodex Arthrologics Systems.
Results and conclusion. The progress tests found the Experimental Group making significant progress versus the Control Group in every tested aspect (p≤0.05). The finding gives us the grounds to recommend the special equilibrium improvement and proprioceptive exercises using the Biodex System as complementary to the standard post-injury rehabilitation methods since weeks 6-8 of the rehabilitation service protocol.
