Socio-psychological adaptation of 40-60 year-old women to age-related changes based on physical education activities

Objective of the study was to identify the impact of health and fitness activities on the psychological condition of women with the climacteric syndrome.
Methods and structure of the study. The ascertaining experiment involved 170 women aged 45-55 years, of whom 99 were diagnosed with the climacteric syndrome. The subjects were divided into two groups: Control Group made of the healthy women, and Experimental Group made of the women with the climacteric syndrome. The Experimental Group subjects attended the sports center three times a week for six months and performed various physical activities. The women’s self-esteem level was analyzed using T.V. Dembo - S.Ya. Rubinstein self-rating qualities test on the following scales: mind, health, character, happiness, satisfaction with their marriage and sexual relations.
Results and conclusions. The experiment with the involvement of women with the climacteric syndrome in physical activities showed that their self-esteem level increased. Therefore, the physical activity program for women designed with account taken of age peculiarities, personality traits, and physiological make-up, will not only improve their self-esteem and somatic status but also their self-perception, as well as increase their social activity and enhance their mood.
