Objective of the study was to experimentally prove the benefits of the adaptive physical education model for correction of psychophysical development of senior preschoolers with speech disorders (dysarthria).
Methods and structure of the study. The study involved two groups of 6 year-olds with dysarthria (15 children each). The adaptive physical education means applied were as follows: articulation, respiratory vocal gymnastics, gymnastics for mimic muscles, finger exercise game, and exercises to develop fine motor skills, kinesthetic abilities, orientation, coordination, and balancing skills.
The above remedial gymnastics components are aimed to prevent psychophysical disorders and secondary impacts of dysarthria. Within the current study, the means of adaptive physical education were selected based on the principle of the defect primacy in dysarthria. This enabled to develop the bodily compensatory abilities to promote realization of the static, dynamic, and coordination functions. The developed exercise sequence provided mastery of motor skills, contributed to the activation of mental processes, initiated cognitive activity.
Results and conclusions. The data obtained during the educational experiment suggest that the use of adaptive physical education means, not just in the sphere of academic physical education but in other educational areas and everyday activities, contributes to the development in senior preschoolers with dysarthria of those functions that were initially underdeveloped.
