Annotation. The use of a training complex based on plyometric exercises contributes to an increase in the power parameters of the leg muscles, their neuromuscular potential and speed-strength endurance in the training system of students of non-physical universities involved in basketball.

Key words: basketball, strength, power, jumping.

Introduction

Basketball involves a wide range of physical exercises in training athletes of different levels [1, 2]. Basketball players perform a large number of jumps, many of which must be realized with maximum effort, for example, during a block shot. At the present stage, plyometric exercises are becoming the most effective means of developing the speed-strength characteristics of the muscles of the lower extremities [3].

The aim of the research is to experimentally determine the influence of plyometric exercises on the growth of power parameters of the legs of students of non-physical education universities of the department of sports improvement, specializing in basketball.

Research methods and organization

The experimental group included full-time university students at the age of 18.4 ± 1.5 years in the amount of 12 people. Determination of the strength characteristics of the muscles of the lower extremities was carried out using a test jump simulating the protective actions under the ring, based on the use of the Biodex force-measuring complex. Statistical analysis of the data was carried out using the IBM SPSS Statistics 25 program.

Results and its discussion

The assessment of the speed-strength characteristics of basketball students indicated a quick and reliable use of the neuromuscular potential according to the height criterion in the dynamics of the experiment implementation - 0.16 ± 0.01 m and 0.22 ± 0.02 m, before and after, respectively (p <0.05). When performing a series of jumps, a high level of increase in speed-power endurance was determined with the implementation of 72.8 ± 3.7%, which characterizes an increase in the motor potential of students. During testing of the strength abilities of the thigh muscles, we revealed a significant increase in the maximum values in the segment of the anterior surface (228.2 ± 32.1 N * m) over similar indicators of the posterior surface of the thigh (92.6 ± 8.0 N * m) compared to baseline (p <0.01).

Conclusion

The results of the study allow us to conclude that for the effective development of the maximum strength of the muscles of the lower extremities, it is necessary to use jumping exercises with a different range of efforts and heights. A training session simulating competitive loads on a separate group of leg muscles should be included in the main part of the lesson in the volume of 2 times a week for 15 minutes.
