Introduction. The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation and the Tchaikovsky State Institute of Physical Culture, with the support of the European Judo Union and the Russian Judo Federation, held the VIII All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Training of Martial Artists: Theory, Methodology and Practice" on April 2-3, 2021, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Martial Arts.
The results of the study and their discussion. The President of the European Judo Union S. I. Soloveitchik addressed the participants of the conference with a welcoming speech, noting that "judo should be taught so that it becomes a way of life for young people", and the sports director of the Russian Judo Federation K. G. Denisov, who on behalf of the FDR wished fruitful work to the gathered specialists. A significant part of the reports of the conference program was devoted to various problems of judo development. The most interesting and caused a heated discussion were the reports of the head of the KNG of the Russian national judo team, K. P.N. V. D. Timofeev, Sports director of the Judo Federation of the Samara region A. Yu. Gulyaev, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Martial Arts and Power Sports of the FGBOU VO "SIBGUFK", Ph. D. A. M. Kondakov.
Another main event of the conference was the holding of the first round table in the history of our country on the topic: "Judo in Russian universities: problems of teaching and prospects for the development of sports reserve", which was attended by 18 employees of specialized departments of theory and methodology of martial arts from 11 universities that teach judo. A total of 508 people took part in the conference in a mixed (face-to-face-distance) format.
Conclusion. The main results of the conference and the round table are reflected in the resolution, which is sent to the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, the European Judo Union and the Russian Judo Federation, which will contribute to the further development and popularization of martial arts not only in the Russian Federation. Russia, but also other countries of the world.
