Case technologies in organization of research activities of physical education department students

Objective of the study was to identify pedagogical possibilities of case technologies in the organization of practice-oriented research activities of the Physical Education Department students.
Methods and structure of the study. We applied analysis of the case technologies in the organization of practice-oriented research activities of the students of the Physical Education Department of Mordovian State Pedagogical Institute named after M.E. Evsevyev in 2018-2020.
Results and conclusions. Case technology is rather an effective tool in the planning and organization of practice-oriented research activities of students. Thus, a total of 45 student research associations with 422 bachelor’s and master’s degree student-members (over 40% of the total contingent) carried out their work at the Physical Education Department from 2018 to 2020. The results of presentation of the international and all-Russian research competition cases showed that over 70 individual and collective applications were submitted by the students, and 233 scientific articles were published. This indicates that the use of case technologies ensures the involvement of both teachers and students in various organizational and research tasks, as well as contributes to research competency building and skill formation. The professional character of the proposed cases enables to better orient in the contemporary problems in the physical education and sports sector, and to learn future physical education teachers how to use their research skills in solving professional tasks.
