Objective of the study was to analyze the topics of biomedical sciences thesis researches in the field of physical education and sports in the period of 2016/2018.
Methods and structure of research. Proceeding from the results of the quantitative analysis of the topics and directions of modern thesis works in support of candidature for a doctoral or post-doctoral degree in medicine and biological sciences, we conducted a comparative analysis of the number of defended biomedical sciences theses depending on the field of science, scientific specialty, awarded academic degree, and correspondence of the theses topics to the research envelope in the field of physical education and sports. We analyzed a total of 63 biomedical sciences theses, defended in 2016-2018 in support of candidature for a doctoral or post-doctoral degree in medicine and biological science in 8 scientific specialties (03.01.09, 03.03.01, 03.03.04, 14.01.08, 14.01. 14, 02.14.01, 02.14.02, 19.00.02).
Results of the study. The study revealed a clear tendency towards a decrease in the total number of biomedical sciences theses in the field of physical education and sports and the number of sports highlighted in these thesis works.
Conclusions. According to the authors, the decrease in the total number of biomedical sciences theses in the field of the physical education and sports is not due to the decreasing interest in scientific research in this field of sport science, but rather a consequence of more overall trends towards strengthening of requirements for thesis works and a slight decrease in the interest of young scientists in active scientific activities.
