Objective of the study was to define the attitude of female football supporters to unsportsmanlike behavior at the stadiums in the Czech Republic based on the results of a sociological analysis.
Methods and structure of the study. We used the primary data obtained by the questionnaire survey in the seasons 2015/2016 and 2016/2017. The questionnaire survey form offered 29 questions to find the supporters’ attitudes to different occurrences at the stadiums scored using the Likert scale. Most of the questions were closed, offering all possible answers. The group of respondents consisted of 720 people aged 25.46±10.19 years, of which 592 were men (25.62±10.20 years), 120 - women (25.01±10.20 years) and 8 people who hadn’t indicated their sex. All respondents attended football matches of Slavia Prague FC and watched them in the sector behind the gates.
Results of the study and conclusions. 91% of respondents reported physical aggression to the police and managers, 82% reported physical aggression to the supporters of the rivals, 73% reported racism, which is considered the most severe manifestations of aggressive or unsportsmanlike behavior of football supporters. At the same time, 91% of respondents noted whistling as the least serious manifestation of unsportsmanlike behavior, which is usually characteristic of football fans.
The authors note that unsportsmanlike behavior at football stadiums is discussed not only at the level of Czech football clubs. Violent behavior is one of the factors that reduce the feeling of pleasant atmosphere at football stadiums. The Czech Football Association strives to make football an "attractive product" and football matches should become cultural events, such as, for example, in England and other Western countries.
