Teacher image characteristics in minds of sports university students

Introduction. The image of the teacher is one of the most important factors influencing the successful communication of the teacher with students, the style of relations with the teaching staff and administration [1, 2]. It should be remembered that the image of teachers often becomes the main source of information about the educational institution and a decisive factor in choosing a University for applicants.
The aim of the study is to study the representation of full-time and part-time students about a successful teacher of a sports University.
Methodology and organization of the study. The study was conducted at the Department of pedagogy rsupesy & t. It was attended by 118 students of Rsufksmit directions "Physical culture", "Pedagogical education" 1-5-th courses of full-time and correspondence forms of education. To identify professionally attractive and unattractive professional image characteristics of the ideal and typical teacher, the semantic differential was used as a diagnostic tool.
At the first stage of the study, students were asked to fill out a questionnaire containing 4 open-ended questions: "Describe your ideas about the ideal teacher of a sports University"; "Describe your ideas about a typical teacher of a sports University"; "Describe the teacher whose classes you most often attend";"Describe the teacher whose classes you most often miss". The survey resulted in about 45 positive and 30 negative image characteristics.
The results of the study and their discussion. Students ' views reflect social expectations in relation to the personality of the teacher, his ability to interact in the educational process. Thus, students see the ideal teacher as a professional, sociable, intelligent, experienced, responsible, competent, creative, fit, stylish, attractive person. Whereas the typical teacher is described as calm, formal, withdrawn, complete, subjective, boring.
In a manner to look adequately to a situation respect of the teacher to students and colleagues is shown. So, to avoid distrustful attitude to yourself as a professional, you should not appear at the University in too short, tight, bright or trendy clothes, as well as to do an avant-garde haircut or coloring. It is equally unacceptable to wear untidy clothes. An experienced teacher demonstrates professional skills coupled with a neat appearance, which not only creates a positive image of the teacher, but also sets students up for an active learning process.
Summary. Success of professional activity of the teacher depends not so much on continuous improvement of pedagogical and methodical knowledge, abilities and skills, how many from its ability to realize them. Therefore, professional skills without taking into account the image component can not ensure the successful implementation of pedagogical activities. The way out of this situation could be the formation of the teacher's image competence.
