Objective of the study was to analyze the skilled ice hockey players’ typed anthropometrical characteristics and physicality test data versus their game roles. Sampled for the study were the 18-21 players who have competed in the Continental Ice Hockey League for the last 4 years. The analysis found meaningful game-position-specific differences in the body mass, neck size, vital capacity, Erisman (chest shape harmony) and Kettle (body length to mass) indices being higher in the defenders’ groups. Forwards were tested with meaningfully higher left/ right wrist strength and vital indices. Neither of the other tests found meaningful differences in the role group data arrays. The study data on the skilled ice-hockey players’ game-position-specific group anthropometrics and physicality rates may be beneficial for the training system customization for the team members, particularly for the highly specialized players. The guiding classified game-position-specific anthropometrical characteristics and physicality rates may be applied to individualize and improve the physical training models at the sport excellence or earlier training stages.

Keywords: ice hockey players, typed anthropometrics, game position, game-position-specific test data.
