Educational service design basics for academic self-reliant physical education and sports

Objective of the study was to provide theoretical and experimental grounds for the educational service design basics for the academic self-reliant physical education and sports. We developed an education model for the academic self-reliant physical education and sports practices designed of the following technological modules: health education with practical sessions, lectures and discussions; mass sport education in physical education and sports and health groups with trekking tours etc.; and individual self-reliant training module with competitions, sport festivals etc. The academic self-reliant physical education and sports model also includes the academic self-reliant physical education and sports competence and progress tests. Sampled for the education model testing experiment were the 1-year students (n=100) of the Forestry Technical Institute under the Reshetnyov SSU in Krasnoyarsk split up into Experimental (EG, n=50) and Reference (RG, n=50) Groups. The EG was trained as required by the new education model to acquire the self-reliant physical education and sports competences and knowledgebase; and excelled in the self-reliant training practices on an off-class basis in addition to the regular academic physical education and sports training curriculum. The experiment showed benefits of the new academic self-reliant PES model as verified by the EG progress in the intellectual and physical fitness rating tests versus the RG.
